The Technological Design and Green Industries students of Don Mills C. I. pay homage to Canadian athletes and the spirit of sportsmanship through ice carvings that will be on display at Shops at Don Mills. The carvings in ice are an interpretation of west coast, First Nations design; a stylized approach to the inner spirit of the subject. Inspiried by the physicality, spirituality and athletic competition of the salmon run, a layered story is carved into the ice.
The students will be carving their frozen works of art in our Town Square on Thursday, February 11th and Friday, February 12th from approximately 9 AM – 4 PM*. Grab a hot chocolate and watch the carvings come to life.
* Please note, for safety reasons the skating oval will be closed during the installation of the ice carvings on February 11th and February 12th, the skating oval will reopen after 4 PM on both days.
