Shops at Don Mills invites you to another weekend long celebration of exceptional shopping, dining and entertainment with the return of Festival in the Square.   

Friday September 10

Concerts in the Square

Melanie Doane

7:15 pm 

Juno-Award winning singer/songwriter, Melanie Doane’s albums have spawned multiple top 40 hits in Canada including "Adam's Rib", "Still Desire You", "Waiting For The Tide", "Goliath" and "Happy Homemaker". Her brand new studio album A Thousand Nights was released on July 1, preceded by the digital release of the single "Songbird", a duet featuring vocals by Blue Rodeo front man Jim Cuddy.

 

Jim Cuddy

8:30 pm

Blue Rodeo singer/guitarist Jim Cuddy represents half of one of Canada's most celebrated songwriting partnerships. The front man for that country rock band is also one of the finest vocalists of his generation, with perfect pitch and a high clear tone that can swing from heart-piercing country balladry to dynamic blue-eyed soul.

Keshia Chanté

Canada’s Princess of Pop and Juno Award-winning signer-songwriter and actress, Keshia Chanté will win your heart as she takes the Shops at Don Mills stage.

 

 

Stereos

3:30 pm

Stereos first gained recognition by appearing on the MuchMusic original series, DISband. In October 2009, they released their first album self-titled Stereos and have become a force in Canada’s pop music scene with two Juno nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Album. Their single “Summer Girl” climbed to the top of the Canadian Hot 100 and has gone double platinum.

 

Bob Clegg Jazz Octet Featuring June Garber

Local favourite, Bob Clegg, returns to the Shops at Don Mills stage with his Jazz Octet joined by the sultry vocalist June Garber

 


 

Matt Dusk

8:30 pm

There are swingers and then there is Matt Dusk - a singer, songwriter, producer, arranger and fervent jazz-pop musicologist blessed with the perfect name ... for his spirit truly comes out as night approaches and concert audiences await. The Canada-native and Juno Award nominee has spent most of his career reanimating the great American songbook alongside some of his own more quirky pop creations. He scored a gold album with his debut CD Two Shots and a chart-topping adult contemporary (AC) single there with "All About Me." Matt even scored a #1 single in Japan with "Back in Town" - the first male jazz singer to ever top the pop chart there.

Throughout the day, our street entertainers will be wandering the festival all afternoon, delighting children of every age, including special performances by the ABS Breakdance Crew.


Community Share Food Bank - Don Mills 

12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Community Share Food Bank - Don Mills will be accepting food and monetary donations.  For every dollar raised Shops at Don Mills will match.

 

Elephant Thoughts Hands-on Science Workshops

Hands-on children’s environmental science workshops.

Bob DeAngelis

As Toronto's ultimate instrumentalist, JUNO award winner Bob DeAngelis has become one of Canada's most accomplished bandleaders and musicians. Bob is a driving force in the area of live entertainment. Let Bob and his band transport you back in musical time with sparkling, unique arrangements of the Jazz era’s greatest hits.

 

Mark Masri

As a masterful songwriter, pianist, vocalist and producer, Mark is a man with the talent and passion to affect people. His music transcends generations with expressive lyrics, lush vocals and elegant delivery. With comparisons to Luther Vandross, Seal and The Winans, Masri is carving out a name for himself as a soulful musician with timeless appeal.

  

Stephan Moccio & Friends

3:30 pm

Join us as acclaimed pianist/composer Stephan Moccio  will be joined by Alan Frew, Amy Sky, Marc Jordan, Mark Masri and Tara McLean take the stage for an afternoon of inspired music.
