Art Display

Epi/Centre by Susan Adett 2009

As Canada’s first planned community, Don Mills has always encompassed both unban and village ideas.  With a layout that encourages walking, filled with houses that typify the modern ideal of home, the developers created a welcoming sense of belonging that has remained with the community ever since.

Inspired by Douglas Coupland’s “Supernova” clock tower, which is located in the Town Square at Shops at Don Mills, Susan has created four panels hung as pairs, that tie the historic houses of Don Mills with the people who call the area home.  People circle around the building that form the foundation of the community, time passes and yet the fundamental values of home remain the same.
